Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Kaman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velasquez has chosen King Of The World as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rob Kaman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cain Velasquez! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Velasquez shoots in and drives through. Kaman sprawls well. Kaman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Velasquez was covering up waiting for the punch and Kaman finishes the takedown easily into guard. Velasquez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Kaman has gone for a leg lock! Velasquez slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kaman's guard. Velasquez looks gassed! Kaman wants to stand but Velasquez is controlling the position. Kaman could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Kaman will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Kaman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Velasquez manages to get himself to full guard.
Kaman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Velasquez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Velasquez has escaped and now he's on top! Velasquez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kaman is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Velasquez won't allow Kaman to get back to his feet. Kaman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kaman is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Velasquez fails to pull guard.
Kaman lands an elbow that stopped Velasquez in his tracks for a moment. Velasquez has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Kaman regains guard immediately. Kaman kicks Velasquez off and gets to his feet. Kaman throws a head kick but Velasquez moves out of range.
Kaman closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kaman breaks from the clinch.
Kaman misses with a head kick.
Kaman throws a head kick that misses. Kaman gets a clinch. Kaman taking a breather. Kaman has had enough of the clinch but Velasquez keeps him there for the moment. Velasquez has Kaman pressed against the cage, preventing Kaman from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Velasquez tries for a takedown but Kaman manages to get underhooks.
Rob Kaman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Velasquez. Kaman lands an uppercut. Kaman's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Velasquez tries to pull guard but Kaman won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kaman has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Kaman has Velasquez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kaman pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Velasquez tumbling to the mat - Kaman dives into Velasquez's guard. Kaman trying to control the position from guard on top but Velasquez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kaman stands up from Velasquez's guard - Kaman perhaps looking for a knockout. Kaman looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kaman wants to stand but Velasquez has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Kaman lands a couple of digs. Kaman gets to his feet - Velasquez follows without any prompting. Kaman pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Velasquez back to the cage. Kaman follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Velasquez has his takedown stuffed and Kaman counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kaman. Kaman lands a damaging elbow. Kaman's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kaman landing knees to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rob Kaman dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Kaman gets the takedown into side control. Velasquez tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Kaman has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Velasquez tries to roll but Kaman sticks to his back.
Kaman looking to break Velasquez's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Velasquez remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Kaman will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Kaman connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Velasquez to escape the position.
Velasquez is covering up but some of the strikes from Kaman are getting through and doing damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Velasquez is trying to break free.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kaman trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Velasquez is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Kaman misses with a punch to the head. Velasquez tries to break free.
Kaman is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Kaman is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kaman has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Velasquez has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Velasquez is trying to stand back up. A lull in the action here.
Velasquez tries to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kaman working for a choke but Velasquez is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Velasquez trying to control the position but Kaman manages to sink in the hooks. Kaman is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Velasquez up.
Velasquez tries to escape but Kaman has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Kaman looking for the choke but no joy. Kaman patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kaman lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. Kaman is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Velasquez with him. Velasquez is trying to defend but Kaman has an arm under the chin now! Velasquez grimaces and is forced to tap out!
