Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stones Mahones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ramon Samara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Stones Mahones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ramon Samara!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samara misses with an uppercut
and Mahones counters with a stiff right hand.
Samara tries to clinch
letting Mahones counter with a right hand.


It looks like Ramon Samara has been cut.
A jab from Samara misses.
Mahones misses with a looping left.
Mahones misses with a hook.
Samara wants to clinch but Mahones slips to the side

and Mahones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mahones.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mahones keeps control of Samara as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Samara wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Samara misses with a punch to the body.
A short body shot lands from Mahones as the two fighters clinch.
Good body shot from Mahones.
Samara looks gassed!
Mahones lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Mahones lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Mahones turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Samara is trying to escape the position but Mahones is controlling the position.
Mahones works to advance to full mount. Samara defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Mahones prevents Samara from getting the reversal.

Mahones sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mahones cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Samara is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mahones controlling the pace for now.
Samara tries to hold on but Mahones pushes him away.
Mahones wants to control the pace but Samara is squirming around nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Samara is trying desperately to improve position.
Mahones content just to control the position here.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Samara wants to hold on but Mahones pushes him away.
Mahones lands a big shot there that rocks Samara but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Samara keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Mahones can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Samara is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samara scores with a sloppy right hand. Mahones should have avoided that one.
Mahones throws a left and a right that both miss
and Samara counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mahones lands a jab to the head.
Mahones moves in looking to clinch but Samara pushes him off.

Samara tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mahones paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mahones rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Samara counters with a left to the body.
Samara misses with an uppercut.
A combination from Samara does no damage.
Stones Mahones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Samara misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Samara takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Samara shoots in looking for a takedown but Mahones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Samara's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mahones throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Samara counter with a right hand.
Mahones thows a body shot but no joy.
Samara blocks a jab.
Mahones doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Mahones throws a jab but it's blocked by Samara.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Mahones fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Samara manages to avoid it.
Samara moves to clinch but Mahones breaks away
and Mahones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Samara misses with a jab to the body
and Mahones counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Stones Mahones is winning the standup battle so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mahones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Samara paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mahones misses with an uppercut. Samara saw that one coming.
Mahones throws a poor cross that misses
and Mahones takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nice defenses there by Samara.
Mahones throws out a loose jab but Samara uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Samara misses with a hook to the body
letting Mahones counter with a right hand.
Samara looks to score with a jab to the body but Mahones is just out of range.
Samara scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Mahones misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Samara counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mahones won't be happy with that.
Mahones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mahones tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Samara tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Samara has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mahones is not content to let Samara control the position.

Samara is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mahones knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mahones manages to get back to half guard.
Samara trying to control the action but Mahones is working from the bottom.

Samara is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Samara missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Samara throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Mahones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Samara is working away from the top position though.
Samara is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Samara wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mahones keeps working.
Samara thows a huge punch but Mahones dodges it nicely.
Mahones is looking for a sweep. Samara is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Samara takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mahones has his hands clasped together around Samara's back. He's all about the action.
Samara missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mahones gets back to full guard.
Mahones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mahones wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Mahones working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Samara.
Samara stays in close to Mahones's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Samara trying to control the position from guard on top but Mahones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mahones scores with a body shot.

Mahones swings for the body but Samara moves out of range.
Ramon Samara has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Samara works over Mahones's head and body with a nice combination.
Samara is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Samara tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mahones swivels and escapes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ramon Samara comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mahones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
