Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lyoto Emelianenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Badam! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emelianenko fails with the takedown and Emelianenko takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Badam pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Emelianenko throws an off balance right hand
and Badam holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Emelianenko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Emelianenko misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Badam.
A head kick by Badam - that's a beauty! Emelianenko is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Badam can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Sam Badam!
