Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rich Granderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Jameson! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jameson wants to clinch but Granderson slips to the side and Granderson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Jameson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Granderson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Granderson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jameson defending well though. Granderson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Granderson stops Jameson from getting back to his feet.
Granderson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jameson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Granderson is looking to advance position but Jameson won't allow it. Granderson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Granderson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's one minute gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Rich Granderson wasn't doing enough on the ground. Jameson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Granderson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jameson was covering up waiting for the punch and Granderson finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jameson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Granderson controls the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Granderson lands a couple of elbows. Granderson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Granderson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jameson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Granderson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jameson some visible discomfort.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jameson tries to hold on but Granderson postures up. Granderson landing strikes from the mount and Jameson is in trouble! Granderson lands a heavy elbow. A nice elbow there by Granderson. Granderson scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Granderson lands with some strikes. Granderson looking to secure an arm triangle but Jameson defends it well. Granderson controlling his opponent. Granderson breaks from Jameson's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jameson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Granderson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Granderson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Granderson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Granderson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Jameson hang on? Granderson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Jameson is bucking up trying to escape but Granderson cracks him with another couple of good strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Granderson landing punches. Granderson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Jameson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rich Granderson dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Granderson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Granderson scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jameson to see if he's OK. Granderson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Jameson taking punishment in the form of punches.
Granderson lands a nice forearm strike. Granderson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Granderson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Granderson scoring with punches from side control. Granderson lands a nice forearm strike. Granderson has hold of Jameson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Jameson seems comfortable defending it but Granderson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Jameson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Jameson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Granderson couldn't care less - he's delighted!
