Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rogerio Junio!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carioca shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Junio's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Junio can do anything to dispel that myth.
Junio throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Carioca tries to free his leg and advance position but Junio is retaining full guard.
Carioca slips nicely into half guard.

Junio kicks off Carioca and gets to his feet.
Carioca has his takedown stuffed
and Carioca takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

letting Junio counter with a right hand.

Junio really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carioca. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Junio is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Carioca avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rogerio Junio was stalling too much, according to the referee.
A looping hook to the body misses from Junio. Carioca does a little dance to reset his feet.
Carioca slaps away a takedown attempt from Junio, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Carioca shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Junio counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Junio would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Junio counters with a takedown into side control.
Junio wants to stand but Carioca is controlling his arm.
Carioca is looking to reverse the position.
Carioca is not content to let Junio control the position.
Junio is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Rogerio Junio has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Junio tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carioca paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Carioca doesn't manage to clinch there - Junio circles away.

Junio swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Junio attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Rogerio Junio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Junio counters with a nice double leg into side control. Carioca won't be happy with that.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Junio wants to control but Carioca is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rogerio Junio showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Carioca avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Junio.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Junio is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Carioca's half guard.
Carioca works his way to full guard. Good work.

Junio sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Carioca's guard.
Junio is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Junio is trying to work for a kimura but Carioca is defending well.

Junio is working for a submission of some sort.
Carioca is staying active underneath Junio, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Rogerio Junio comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Junio has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
