PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dominik Cyran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Coop Diddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dominik Cyran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Coop Diddy!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diddy gets a takedown into half guard.
Diddy stalling.
Diddy prevents Cyran from standing back up.
Diddy uses his free foot to push down on Cyran's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cyran.
You get the feeling that Cyran really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Cyran working to try and regain half guard.
Diddy looking to control but Cyran is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Diddy controlling from the full mount.
Diddy with the ground and pound from mount.
Diddy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Diddy wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cyran is trying to stand.
Diddy scoring with strikes but Cyran is staying in there.
Cyran is in all sorts of trouble here.
Diddy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Diddy's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Cyran tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Cyran is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Diddy lands a big shot there that rocks Cyran but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Cyran wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diddy slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Diddy lands a shot to the body.
Diddy has good solid back control here.

Diddy throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Cyran!
Cyran looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

Diddy looking to break Cyran's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Cyran remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Diddy will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Cyran shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Diddy counters with a shoot takedown. Cyran fights it but they end up in guard.
Diddy trying to control the position from guard on top but Cyran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Diddy makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Diddy wants to control from the top but Cyran keeps moving.

Cyran is working an open guard so Diddy takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Cyran gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Diddy distracts Cyran with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Diddy forces his way into half guard.
Cyran looks like he's trying to stand up.
Cyran really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Diddy wants to control but Cyran is keeping him busy.

Diddy stands up and beckons Cyran to join him on the feet.
Diddy is breathing heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cyran tries for a takedown but Diddy circles away easily

and Diddy counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Cyran!
Cyran is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Diddy is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cyran can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Cyran can't escape the position.
Diddy cracks Cyran with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Diddy trying to control but Cyran is having none of it.

Diddy jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Cyran manages to avoid the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cyran is looking for a sweep.
Cyran is trying to buck Diddy off.
A lull in the action here as Diddy stalls from top position.
Check out the look on Diddy's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Coop Diddy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Cyran with a lazy takedown attempt

and Diddy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cyran won't be happy with that.
Cyran tries to bench press Diddy off him but Diddy keeps the position.

Diddy decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cyran to his feet.

Diddy rushes Cyran and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Diddy gets underhooks to prevent Cyran's takedown attempt.
Cyran looking to throw knees to the head but Diddy is blocking nicely.
Diddy lands with a right to the head.
Cyran drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Diddy gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dominik Cyran. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cyran is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Diddy decides to pull guard.

Diddy pushes Cyran off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Diddy lands a two punch combo.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Diddy.

Diddy is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Cyran will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Coop Diddy has got the better of the ground game so far.

Diddy stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Diddy slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Cyran manages to work his way to half guard, despite Diddy's best efforts.

Cyran is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Diddy uses his free foot to push down on Cyran's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cyran.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diddy has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Cyran!

Diddy has hold of Cyran's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Cyran manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Coop Diddy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Diddy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
