Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Korn-Coming Undone. Vrabiuta is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Born to Be Wild. Jorge Gracie could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Radu Vrabiuta's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Radu Vrabiuta!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Gracie takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Radu Vrabiuta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Vrabiuta gets the takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here.
Gracie is trying to get back to half guard.
Vrabiuta takes a little break here. Gracie wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Vrabiuta stands up.
Vrabiuta works Gracie's body with a nice hook.

Vrabiuta closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gracie to the mat! Gracie manages to get full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vrabiuta accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vrabiuta really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Gracie working a defensive guard but Vrabiuta manages to pass into side control anyway.

Vrabiuta stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Vrabiuta throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Gracie takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Vrabiuta darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Vrabiuta wants to pass to mount but Gracie is defending the position.

Vrabiuta decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Vrabiuta looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Gracie takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Gracie tries to sprawl but Vrabiuta drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vrabiuta content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Let's hope that Vrabiuta has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vrabiuta throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Vrabiuta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Vrabiuta shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Radu Vrabiuta wasn't active enough on the ground.

Vrabiuta throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Gracie's head.
Vrabiuta throws a head kick that Gracie semi-blocks.
Vrabiuta with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Vrabiuta lets loose with a powerful body kick. Gracie will feel that in the morning.

Vrabiuta gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Vrabiuta lands a leg kick that knocks Gracie off balance momentarily.

Vrabiuta has Gracie up against the cage in a clinch.

Gracie has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Vrabiuta.

Vrabiuta scores with a head kick. Gracie tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vrabiuta feints and then cracks Gracie's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gracie down.
Vrabiuta throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Vrabiuta is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gracie's half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Vrabiuta in particular looking to stall.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Radu Vrabiuta showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

and Vrabiuta counters with a flying knee. Nice.
A nice leg kick lands there from Vrabiuta.

Vrabiuta has managed to clinch.

Vrabiuta turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
You can see the frustration on Gracie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Vrabiuta has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Vrabiuta shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Vrabiuta was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vrabiuta has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gracie is wriggling around trying to escape.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Radu Vrabiuta hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Vrabiuta shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gracie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Vrabiuta slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Gracie keeping moving, preventing Vrabiuta from controlling successfully.
Vrabiuta trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Vrabiuta wants to stand but Gracie has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Radu Vrabiuta has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Radu Vrabiuta is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Vrabiuta escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Vrabiuta moves into the clinch.
Gracie is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Vrabiuta pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Vrabiuta pushes Gracie away with a front kick.
Jorge Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Radu Vrabiuta comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Vrabiuta has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
