Rooney is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Prodigy - Spitfire. The key to victory for John AppleSkillett has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
AppleSkillett throws an off balance right hand
enabling Rooney to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like John AppleSkillett has been cut.
AppleSkillett misses with a straight right.

and Rooney counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
AppleSkillett is rocked!
A momentary lapse in concentration from AppleSkillett enables Rooney to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. AppleSkillett manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Oh AppleSkillett is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rooney wants to control from the top but AppleSkillett keeps moving.

Rooney has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. AppleSkillett is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
AppleSkillett's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Rooney counters by clinching up.

Rooney shoots for a double leg takedown but AppleSkillett sprawls well. He's pushed Rooney's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
AppleSkillett goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
AppleSkillett lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Rooney circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rooney shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rooney showed some decent athleticism there.
Rooney is trying to work for a kimura but AppleSkillett is defending well.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
AppleSkillett wants to improve his position but Rooney is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John AppleSkillett will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on John AppleSkillett's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Rooney shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with AppleSkillett but AppleSkillett pushes him off and we're back to square one.
