PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Burrhus Frederic Skinner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Vest (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee Vest will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Burrhus Frederic Skinner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lee Vest!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vest avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Skinner shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vest defends it nicely.
Skinner wants to clinch but Vest slips to the side
and Vest connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Vest is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Vest fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Skinner tries to clinch up but Vest circles away and keeps his distance.
Vest lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Vest swings for the body but Skinner moves out of range.
Vest throws a big shot that misses.
Vest lunges at Skinner with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Skinner's hand.
Skinner closes the distance looking to clinch
letting Vest counter with a right hand.
Vest rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Skinner counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Skinner trying to control the position from guard on top but Vest is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vest is looking to stand up but Skinner isn't so interested in that idea.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Skinner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Skinner is stalling in the full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Burrhus Frederic Skinner wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Left hook, right uppercut from Vest.
Vest stuffs the takedown attempt from Skinner. Skinner gets slowly back to his feet.
Vest has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Vest will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Skinner tries to clinch up
and Vest counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Vest lands a jab to Skinner's midsection.
Lee Vest is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Skinner moves into range and clinches up with Vest.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Skinner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Vest throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Skinner stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Vest misses with a jab to the body

and Skinner counters with a takedown into side control.
Vest tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Skinner wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Vest looks gassed!
Skinner prevents Vest from escaping the position.
Check out the look on Skinner's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Skinner is putting a hurting on Vest here, landing some big shots from side control.

Skinner has hold of Vest's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Vest seems comfortable defending it but Skinner has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Vest is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Vest is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Skinner couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Burrhus Frederic Skinner!
