PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edmund Behnke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Serr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dan Serr was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Edmund Behnke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Serr!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Behnke doesn't manage to clinch there - Serr circles away.

Behnke clinches up against the ropes.
Behnke throws a head punch that misses.
A body shot lands from Behnke.
Behnke misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Serr.
Serr throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Serr tries to pull guard but Behnke won't allow it.
Behnke landing knees to the head.
Behnke connects with a knee to the head.


Serr is rocked!
Serr is trying to break the clinch but Behnke has him pressed against the ropes.
Serr is still on wobbly legs! Can Behnke finish him?
Behnke trying to control the position but instead, Serr has worked for underhooks and has pushed Behnke into the ropes.
Behnke lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Behnke manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Behnke is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Serr is controlling him.
Serr seems to have recovered his senses.
Serr seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Serr decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Behnke tries to clinch up.

Serr is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Behnke's half guard.
Serr is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Behnke is trying to stand back up but Serr is controlling him

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Serr slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Dan Serr wasn't active enough on the ground.
Behnke is looking to clinch.

Serr darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Serr throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Serr tries to stand but can't do so whilst Behnke controls his leg.
Serr trying to mount his opponent but Behnke defends it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Edmund Behnke will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.



Serr shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Serr was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Serr is stalling here but it's allowed Behnke to get half guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dan Serr was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Behnke doesn't manage to clinch there - Serr circles away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Serr tries to clinch but Behnke is having none of it.

Serr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Serr fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Behnke, pushing him back against the ropes.

Behnke is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Serr is keeping busy.

Behnke lands a right hand that snaps the head of Serr backwards.

Behnke seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Serr is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.

Serr is breathing heavily.
Behnke goes for a takedown attempt but Serr pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dan Serr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Serr tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Behnke manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Serr avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Behnke tries to clinch there but Serr circles away.
Serr shoots in for a takedown but Behnke shows good takedown defense.

Behnke throws a combination. Serr tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Behnke shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Serr as he avoids it easily.
Behnke misses with a series of wild punches.
Serr keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edmund Behnke. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Behnke wants to clinch up but Serr keeps it at a distance.
Serr circles away from the clinch attempt.
Behnke tries to close the distance and clinch up but Serr swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Serr throws a series of strikes that have Behnke backpedaling.
Behnke avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Behnke is trying to maintain the position but Serr is very close to passing his half guard.
Serr is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Behnke reverses the position - he's now on top in Serr's guard.

A close second round but Dan Serr will probably get the nod - 10:9.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Dan Serr wasn't active enough on the ground.
Serr fails with an attempt to clinch.
Behnke gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Serr counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Serr is trying to control the action in half guard but Behnke is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Serr looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Behnke trying to hold on to Serr's head to control him but Serr postures up.
Serr is keen to just control but Behnke is a slippery customer.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dan Serr.
Serr lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Serr.
Nice takedown defense from Behnke. No joy for Serr on that attempt.
Behnke misses with a takedown attempt - Serr sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Serr shoots in looking for a takedown. Behnke tries to sprawl out of it but Serr keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Behnke manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Serr swats away the attempt to clinch by Behnke.
Behnke is looking to clinch.
Behnke tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Serr paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Behnke fails with an attempt to clinch.
Serr shoots for a double leg takedown but Behnke sprawls well. He's pushed Serr's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Edmund Behnke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Serr.
Serr stuffs the takedown attempt from Behnke. Behnke gets slowly back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Behnke tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Serr manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Behnke is looking to clinch.

Behnke closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Behnke lands in his opponent's guard.
Serr controls Behnke momentarily but Behnke frees himself.
Serr might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Behnke kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Serr can't keep his opponent in guard - Behnke advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dan Serr comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Serr has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
