PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Flynn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Butch DeLoria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flynn comes into the arena with Bad Ass by Mickey Finn & Aphrodite blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeLoria tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Flynn counters with a nice uppercut.
Flynn swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and DeLoria moves into the clinch.
Flynn drops to a knee looking for a takedown but DeLoria gets the underhooks and prevents it.
DeLoria works on Flynn's body with a couple of short punches.
Flynn throws a punch but it's blocked by DeLoria.

DeLoria breaks from the clinch.
Flynn throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and DeLoria counters with a right hand to the body.
DeLoria throws a hook but Flynn avoids it easily.
DeLoria cracks Flynn with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

It looks like Mickey Flynn has been cut.

DeLoria wants to clinch up but Flynn keeps it at a distance.
Mickey Flynn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Flynn has his foot on DeLoria's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. DeLoria works his way back into a safe position though.

DeLoria has gone for a leg lock! Flynn slips out almost immediately though and dives into DeLoria's guard.
DeLoria seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

DeLoria is working for a guillotine from mount but Flynn frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Flynn tries to lock up and control but DeLoria gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
DeLoria is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Flynn wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by DeLoria.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, DeLoria cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
DeLoria is looking to work his way around to Flynn's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
DeLoria wants to control the pace but Flynn is squirming around nicely.
DeLoria lands a nice shot to the head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Flynn connects with a right hand. DeLoria shakes it off.
Flynn ducks down and throws a hook to the body but DeLoria moves away.

DeLoria tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Flynn was well out of range. Poor timing from DeLoria.

DeLoria drops back, looking for a kneebar! Flynn looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Flynn looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Flynn!

DeLoria might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Flynn kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Flynn doesn't have the hooks in and DeLoria manages to turn into his guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Butch DeLoria hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Well DeLoria has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
