Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shoichi Kosugi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sancho Pancha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Shoichi Kosugi !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sancho Pancha!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kosugi tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Pancha counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Kosugi down! Pancha is looking to finish but Kosugi is intelligently defending himself.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kosugi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pancha has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kosugi has managed to get both his arms back between Pancha's legs - danger averted.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pancha postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kosugi is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pancha, into his guard.
Kosugi has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Pancha has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kosugi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Shoichi Kosugi .
I think Kosugi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
