The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nguyen throws a poor cross that misses
and Nguyen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Slater ducks under a wild hook from Nguyen.
Nguyen throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Slater counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Slater lands a really nice looking cross but Nguyen seems unphased.
The crowd cheers as Slater lands an impressive looking overhand right. Nguyen doesn't seem phased though.
Slater swings for the body but Nguyen moves out of range.
Slater lands an overhand right.
Slater fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nguyen takes a swing at Slater's ribcage but misses.

Nguyen takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

and Slater counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Slater circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Slater, right into the meat.
Nguyen looks gassed!
Nguyen throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Slater counters with a huge left! Nguyen is in big trouble! He's backing up but Slater isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Nguyen from any more damage. A dominating finish by Slater!
