Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lucius Shine! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bryan Danielson! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shine lands the left hand. Decent striking displayed by Shine there. Shine looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Shine thows a huge punch but Danielson dodges it nicely.

Danielson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Shine. Danielson looking for a guillotine here but Shine defends easily.
Danielson is trying to control the position but Shine postures up. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Danielson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shine defends it easily. Shine lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shine trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Shineis looking to pass into half guard but Danielson pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Danielson is in guard. Danielson won't allow Shine to get back to his feet. Shine knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Danielson on the ground. Danielson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Danielson throwing strikes but missing. Danielson wants to control from the top but Shine keeps moving. Danielson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Shine kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Danielson won't allow Shine to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Shine wants to stand but Danielson is controlling the position. Danielson tries to free his leg and advance position but Shine is retaining full guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Danielson trying to control but Shine is working from the bottom.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Bryan Danielson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Danielson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Shine lands with a shot to the body. Shine looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Danielson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shine can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Danielson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shine defends it easily. Shine has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Shine avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Danielson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Danielson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Shine got a little sloppy there for a moment and Danielson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shine has managed to get both his arms back between Danielson's legs - danger averted.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shine with a nice head shot there. Danielson has his foot on Shine's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shine works his way back into a safe position though. Danielson keeping full guard, as Shine tries to pass. Shine postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Shine postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Shine works over Danielson with some ground and pound from guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shine with a flurry of punches that miss. Shine scoring with punches to the head and body. Shine is in close to Danielson's body, working some short punches and elbows. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Danielson looking to control.
Shine throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Danielson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Shine makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Danielson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lucius Shine will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Danielson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Shine is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Danielson's half guard. Shine scoring with strikes to the body and head. Shine thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Shine is pressing down on Danielson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Danielson is holding on for now. Danielson wants to get back to full guard. Danielson taking some punishment here, with Shine in his half guard. Shine lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Danielson misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Danielson is refusing to be controlled, as Shine sits in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shine thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Danielson's head. Shine slips a nice elbow through Danielson's hands, connecting with Danielson's forehead. Danielson is trying to maintain the position but Shine is very close to passing his half guard. Danielson looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Shine is trying to control the action in half guard but Danielson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Shine drops an elbow to the side of Danielson's head. Danielson works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Danielson is looking for a triangle but Shine pushes his legs off easily.

Shine landing with the ground and pound. Shine throwing strikes but missing. Shine in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Shine has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Danielson to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Shine is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Danielson pulls down on the head and he's put Shine to sleep! This one is all over!
