The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Highbrook shoots in looking for a takedown but Askins manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Highbrook's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Askins lands a glancing blow to the side of Highbrook's head.
Arron Askins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Askins misses with an uppercut. Highbrook saw that one coming.
Askins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Askins ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Highbrook throws a hook to the side of Askins's head but Askins sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Highbrook shoots in but Askins avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Highbrook works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Askins is not content to let Highbrook control the position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Askins can do anything to dispel that myth.

Askins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Highbrook. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
