PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Desert Snake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Dex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Desert Snake has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Desert Snake seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Desert Snake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jay Dex!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snake throws a combination that misses
and Snake takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Desert Snake has been cut.
Snake throws a one two combo.
Snake has a takedown stuffed.

Dex clinches up against the cage.
Dex working hard to break the clinch.
Dex lands an uppercut.
A frustrated look appears on Dex's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Snake throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
A short uppercut from Dex.

Snake missing with knees to the body.
Snake is trying to break free.

Snake breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dex shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Dex clinches.
Snake tries to pull guard but Dex won't allow it.
Dex controlling the action here for a moment.
Snake looking to slow down the pace here.
Dex scores with a shot to the side of Snake's head.
Dex keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Snake's efforts to push away.

Dex wants to get back to striking at distance but Snake won't allow it.
Snake is trying to maintain a safe position but Dex gets an underhook and turns Snake into the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Dex.
Snake tries to pull guard but Dex holds him up against the cage and eventually Snake drops back down to his feet.

Dex lands with a light punch inside.

Snake pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Snake keeps the fight on the outside.

Dex moves into the clinch successfully.

Dex controlling the action here for a moment.
Dex takes an elbow to the temple.
Snake wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Snake tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dex wants to break the clinch but can't.
Snake wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Snake fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Dex breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Snake closes the distance looking to clinch

and Dex counters by clinching up.
Snake goes for a takedown in the clinch but Dex prevents it.
Dex lands on the inside with an uppercut.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Snake prevents Dex from breaking the clinch.
Dex has Snake pressed against the cage.
Snake trying to control the position but instead, Dex has worked for underhooks and has pushed Snake into the cage.

Dex's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Dex closes the distance and clinches.
Dex has Snake pressed against the cage.
Snake taking a breather.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Snake just misses with a elbow thrown towards Dex's brow.
Dex tries to break the clinch but Snake is controlling the position.
Dex wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Snake has him pressed against the cage.
The referee calls for Dex to work.
Dex drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Snake gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Dex is trying to force a seperation but Snake has the dominant position.
Snake fails to pull guard.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
A short right from Dex on the inside.
Dex tries to pull guard but Snake won't allow it.
Snake trying to stall but Dex improves his position.
Snake is breathing heavily.

Dex is trying to break the clinch but Snake has him pressed against the cage.

Dex pulls Snake into guard.
Dex looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Snake got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dex has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Snake has managed to get both his arms back between Dex's legs - danger averted.
Snake trying to control the position from guard on top but Dex is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Snake stops Dex from standing up.
Snake wanted to stand there but Dex had control of the position.
Dex controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Dex dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Desert Snake's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


No joy there for Dex, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Snake circles away from the clinch attempt.
Snake misses with a takedown attempt

and Dex counters by moving into the clinch.
Dex wants to get back to striking at distance but Snake won't allow it.
Dex is trying to break free.
Dex taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Snake creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
A right handed body shot lands from Dex.
Snake jumps guard but Dex stands there with Snake around his waist. Snake gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Snake tries to circle away but Dex has him pinned against the cage.
Snake is pressed up against the cage. Dex has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Snake down to the mat. Snake avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Dex avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
An inside leg kick from Dex misses.

Dex clinches with his opponent.
Dex looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Dex looking for a takedown.
Snake wants to break the clinch but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Snake is working for takedown but Dex is calmly controlling the position for now.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jay Dex wasn't active enough on the ground.
Snake throws a series of punches but Dex moves out of range.

Dex rushes Snake and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Dex breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dex scores with a one two! Snake had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Dex is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Snake gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Dex lands a nice uppercut.


Snake is rocked!
Dex lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Oh Snake is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dex is trying to break free.
Dex tries to break the clinch but Snake is controlling the position.
Snake keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Dex's efforts to push away.
Snake seems to have got his legs back now.
Dex wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Dex is trying to force a seperation but Snake has the dominant position.
Dex working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Dex lands a hook that snaps the head of Snake backwards.

Dex is pulling down on Snake's head to control his posture.
Let's hope that Dex has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Dex is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jay Dex wasn't active enough on the ground.
Dex takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dex takes the fight into the clinch.

Dex breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Dex showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dex forces Snake back against the cage and clinches.
Dex lands a hook to the side of the head.
Dex is trying to break the clinch but Snake has him pressed against the cage.

Dex is trying to force a seperation but Snake has the dominant position.
Snake tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dex just stands there and leans against the cage.
Snake lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Dex.
Snake is pressed up against the cage. Dex has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Snake down to the mat. Snake avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Snake gets underhooks to prevent Dex's takedown attempt.
Desert Snake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Dex.
Snake is looking to control Dex's arms but Dex gets an underhook and turns him. Now Snake has his back to the cage.

Snake pulls Dex into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dex accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Snake is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Dex trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Dex is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Dex trying to stand up but can't free himself from Snake's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jay Dex was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Dex moves into range and clinches up with Snake.
Snake misses with a knee to the head.

Dex decides to pull guard.
Dex has his hands on Snake's head, controlling the position.
Dex really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Snake. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Snake won't allow Dex to sweep him here.
Dex is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Snake is controlling him.
Snake trying to control the position from guard on top but Dex is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Dex looking for a guillotine here but Snake defends easily.
Snake pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dex is keeping the position for now.
Dex wants to stand and escape but Snake is having none of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Snake won't allow Dex to sweep him here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Snake stuffs the takedown attempt from Dex. Dex gets slowly back to his feet.
Dex scores with a jab to the body.
Dex shoots in for a double leg but Snake sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Dex throws a solid leg kick but Snake takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Dex.
Dex shoots in for a takedown but Snake shows good takedown defense.
Dex misses with a series of wild punches.
Desert Snake has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Snake misses with a double jab

and Dex moves into the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jay Dex comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dex has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
