Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frankie Edgar!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anthony Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edgar looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Edgar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pettis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Edgar has managed to get both his arms back between Pettis's legs - danger averted.
Edgar prevents Pettis from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pettis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Edgar is one step ahead there.

Pettis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Edgar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Edgar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pettis on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Edgar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

and Edgar decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pettis's guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Pettis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Edgar can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Edgar creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pettis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Edgar remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Pettis has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Edgar avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Pettis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Edgar tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Pettis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frankie Edgar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pettis is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Edgar has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pettis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Edgar turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Edgar manages to end up in side control.

Edgar seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pettis for as long as he can get away with.
Edgar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Anthony Pettis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Frankie Edgar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Edgar, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
