The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Thompson shoots in looking for a takedown. Gunn tries to sprawl out of it but Thompson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gunn manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gunn scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gunn but Gunn pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Thompson shoots for a takedown but Gunn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Thompson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Gunn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Thompson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gunn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Thompson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thompson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
