PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between eddy gg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Rock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rock has chosen J Rock - Freestyle as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
gg shoots in for a double leg but Rock sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
gg tries to close the distance and clinch but Rock swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A decent looking cross lands there for gg.

gg drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

gg decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
gg shoots in looking for a takedown. Rock tries to sprawl out of it but gg keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rock manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
gg closes the distance and clinches up with Rock, looking for a takedown. gg pushes Rock against the cage but Rock circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for eddy gg. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Rock counters with a shoot takedown. gg fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
gg is breathing heavily.

Rock gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
gg wants to sweep but Rock has passed to side control!
gg manages to work his way to half guard, despite Rock's best efforts.
gg lands a couple of sideways elbows.
gg is looking for a sweep. Rock is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
gg controlling the position well.
Rock prevents gg from standing back up.

gg looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
gg knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rock on the ground.

Rock wants to pass the guard but gg is defending well.
gg gets back to full guard.

gg had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rock is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. gg Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rock's back instead.

gg has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Rock has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

What can Rock do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Rock gets the takedown into side control.

Rock stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Rock uses his free foot to push down on gg's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for gg.
