Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Vass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julius Africanus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Vass has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Vass! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Julius Africanus! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vass instigates a clinch. Vass tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Vass tries to land knees in the clinch but Africanus avoids the damage to the body. Africanus throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Vass blocks it with crossed arms. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Vass tries for a takedown. No joy.
Vass jumps guard but Africanus stands there with Vass around his waist. Vass gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Nick Vass has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Africanus tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Africanus fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Vass sprawls well initially but Africanus persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Africanus sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Vass defending well though. Africanus is keen to just control but Vass is a slippery customer. Africanus is nestled in close to Vass, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Vass controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Africanus has control of an arm but Vass manages to advance to Africanus's back! Vass is looking to stand back up but Africanus counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Vass. Vass trying to get back to full guard but Africanus takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Vass is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Africanus unloading with bombs! Africanus dominating with strikes here. Africanus fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Julius Africanus dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Africanus is pressed up against the cage. Vass has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Africanus down to the mat. Africanus avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Africanus has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Vass. Vass throws a lazy head kick and Africanus counters with a head kick. Africanus fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Vass. Vass closes the distance and clinches. Africanus lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Vass is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Africanus is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Africanus has escaped and now he's on top! Africanus trying to control the position from guard on top but Vass is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nick Vass wasn't doing enough on the ground. Vass has his takedown stuffed and Africanus counters with an outside leg kick.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Africanus throws a lazy head kick and Vass counters with a nice double leg into guard. Vass wants to stand and escape but instead Africanus has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Julius Africanus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Vass closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Julius Africanus has got the better of the ground game so far. Vass tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Africanus is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Vass decides to stand back up. Both fighters are breathing heavily. A head kick by Africanus misses and Vass counters with a two punch combo.

Vass scores with a sloppy right hand. Africanus should have avoided that one. Vass swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vass tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Africanus fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vass manages to avoid it. Vass gets in close and instigates a clinch. Vass tries to pull guard but Africanus won't allow it.

Vass has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Vass trying to control but Africanus is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nick Vass wasn't doing enough on the ground. Africanus scores a takedown into full mount! Africanus lands a nice shot to the head. Africanus lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Africanus is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Vass can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Vass is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Vass is desperately trying to improve his position but Africanus has a good base and remains in mount. Africanus with shots to the head and body - Vass looks very uncomfortable down there. Nick Vass has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Julius Africanus is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Africanus blocks Vass's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Julius Africanus. Well Africanus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
