Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Ross Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Neville Champman!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Champman pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Champman.
A lull in the action here.
Let's hope that Champman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Champman wants to control but Woods is keeping him busy.
Champman slows the pace down.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Champman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Woods keeps working.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Champman is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Woods's shoulder. That is not cool.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Neville Champman wasn't active enough on the ground.
Woods misses with a hook
and Champman counters with a body kick.
Woods stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Woods wants it to stay on the feet.
Champman shoots for a double leg takedown but Woods sprawls well. He's pushed Champman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Champman turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Woods is breathing heavily.

Champman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Champman content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Champman misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
A lull in the action here.
It looks like Champman might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Neville Champman hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Horrible takedown by Woods or perhaps it was just good defense by Champman which made him look bad.
Woods takes a swing at Champman's ribcage but misses.
Woods throws an off balance right hand
and Champman counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Champman.
Woods tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Champman throws a head kick but Woods moves out of range.
A head kick misses from Champman.
Woods blocks a low kick nicely.
Champman takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Woods lands a jab to Champman's midsection.
Champman throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Woods's head.


It looks like Ross Woods has been cut.
Woods doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Champman counters with a leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Champman tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Woods is able to avoid easily.
Woods tries to bum rush Champman with a series of wild strikes but Champman uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Woods moves out of range of the body kick from Champman.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Champman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Woods is trying to escape the position but Champman is controlling the position.

Champman in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Woods is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Neville Champman!
