PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Bong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Palowakski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palowakski has chosen Burning Down the House as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, King Bong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fred Palowakski!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bong is looking to clinch but Palowakski is avoiding it.
Palowakski throws the left hand but Bong avoids the punch easily.
Bong fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bong stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.


It looks like Fred Palowakski has been cut.

Bong clinches.
Palowakski avoids a wild elbow strike from Bong.

Bong breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
King Bong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bong scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Check out the look on Bong's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Palowakski prevents Bong from improving position.
Palowakski is trying to get back to half guard.
Bong throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Palowakski defending against the ground and pound.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bong wants to lay and pray for a moment but Palowakski keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bong working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Sloppy strikes there by Bong.
Bong is chipping away with strikes.
Bong tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Palowakski tries to buck Bong off but Bong is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bong wants to control but Palowakski is keeping him busy.
Palowakski holds on to Bong's head and controls the position momentarily.
Bong creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Palowakski sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Palowakski parries the strikes from Bong easily there. Bong is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Palowakski to escape.
Bong misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Bong creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Palowakski managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Bong.
Bong lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Bong wants to stand but Palowakski is controlling his arm.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bong is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Palowakski has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bong lands a few punches from side control.
Bong tries to move to mount but Palowakski blocks the move with his legs.
Palowakski is looking for a sweep.
Bong trying to control the position but Palowakski is working away.
Bong creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Palowakski sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Palowakski can't do much from the bottom here.
Bong in side control, throwing shots but Palowakski defends.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bong misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
You can see the frustration on Palowakski's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Bong tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Bong lands a decent elbow from side control.
Bong is looking to take a break and control but Palowakski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Palowakski avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Bong.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Bong dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Fred Palowakski's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bong lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Palowakski has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Palowakski and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Palowakski fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bong, pushing him back against the cage.
Bong lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Palowakski is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Bong escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Palowakski misses with a takedown attempt
and Bong counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Palowakski throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Palowakski takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Palowakski takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bong lands with a big right hook that stumbles Palowakski - he's out on his feet here! Bong follows up with another monster hook that separates Palowakski from consciousness! Palowakski falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Bong stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). King Bong!
