PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wyatt Earp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Serra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wyatt Earp!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Kavanagh and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serra moves to clinch but Earp breaks away
and Serra takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Earp closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Serra did well to prevent Earp getting side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Earp slips a nice elbow through Serra's hands, connecting with Serra's forehead.
Serra avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Earp.
Earp really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Serra. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Earp throws a strike but Serra avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Earp's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Earp drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Serra manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Earp has Serra in his guard.
Earp avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Serra has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Earp has his hands on Serra's head, controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Earp kicks Serra off and gets to his feet.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
