Davis controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself.

Jones throws a big right hand that misses.
Davis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Davis has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jones off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Roy Davis dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Davis shoots in and gets a takedown into Jones's guard.
Davis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Davis trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Davis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jones's guard.
Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working.
Jones is trying to get back to full guard.

Davis is working for a kimura but Jones is defending it quite comfortably.
Jones tries to roll over but Davis keeps him under control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Davis works his foot free and advances to mount.
Jones bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Davis manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Davis landing strikes from the mount and Jones is in trouble!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis lands a big shot there that rocks Jones but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Jones is bucking up trying to escape but Davis cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Davis jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jones is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jones and Davis has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Davis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jones is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Jones wants to control but Davis postures up.

Davis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jones has escaped the position, nice work there.
A lull in the action here as Davis stalls from top position.
Davis cracks Jones with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Davis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Davis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Davis working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Jones tries to bench press Davis off him but Davis keeps the position.

Davis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jones, who protects the arm well.
Jones gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roy Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
