PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Logan McCriux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaydub Spliffenberger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spliffenberger has chosen Roll 'em Up as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Logan McCriux!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jaydub Spliffenberger!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spliffenberger tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
McCriux rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Spliffenberger moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
McCriux feints a jab promting Spliffenberger to slip. McCriux then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Spliffenberger slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Jaydub Spliffenberger has been cut.

McCriux lands a big head kick that sends Spliffenberger tumbling to the mat! McCriux takes a step backwards and waves Spliffenberger back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Spliffenberger is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McCriux misses with a double jab

and Spliffenberger counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
McCriux wants to get back to his feet.

Spliffenberger is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McCriux has managed to free his arm - good work.
McCriux wants to get back to his feet.
McCriux is refusing to be controlled, as Spliffenberger sits in half guard.
Spliffenberger tries to pass the half guard into mount. McCriux knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Spliffenberger uses his free foot to push down on McCriux's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McCriux.
McCriux is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Spliffenberger content just to control the position here.

Spliffenberger is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McCriux to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McCriux shrugs it off.
Spliffenberger pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

Spliffenberger goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now McCriux is on top in guard.
McCriux with a flurry of punches that miss.
McCriux might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Spliffenberger is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Spliffenberger is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Spliffenberger had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McCriux defends it easily.
McCriux postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
McCriux throws a big right hand that misses.
McCriux stands up over Spliffenberger, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Spliffenberger is trying to keep McCriux in close.
Spliffenberger bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McCriux's guard.
McCriux is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Spliffenberger is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McCriux can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Spliffenberger controls the pace.
Spliffenberger trying to control the position from guard on top but McCriux is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Spliffenberger passes into half guard.
Spliffenberger works his foot free and advances to mount.

Spliffenberger looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
McCriux is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Spliffenberger tries to control but McCriux wriggling away.

Spliffenberger jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but McCriux manages to avoid the submission attempt.
McCriux wants to get back to his feet but Spliffenberger drags him back down.
McCriux is breathing heavily.
McCriux is not content to let Spliffenberger control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Logan McCriux will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jaydub Spliffenberger's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


McCriux throws a left and a right that both miss
and Spliffenberger counters with a nice low kick that buckles McCriux's knee momentarily.
McCriux misses with a leg kick
and Spliffenberger makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
McCriux on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Spliffenberger. Spliffenberger obviously looking to wear him down.
Spliffenberger dodges the punch combination from McCriux.
Spliffenberger lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Spliffenberger fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McCriux.
A low kick from McCriux misses
and Spliffenberger counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Spliffenberger closes the distance and clinches.

Spliffenberger has McCriux pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Spliffenberger pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending McCriux tumbling to the mat - Spliffenberger dives into McCriux's guard.
Spliffenberger passes McCriux's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Spliffenberger works his foot free and advances to mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Spliffenberger is working for a guillotine from mount but McCriux frees his head quite easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCriux prevents Spliffenberger from taking his back.
Spliffenberger controlling the position easily from mount.
McCriux tries to buck Spliffenberger off but he can't manage it.
Spliffenberger looking to control but McCriux is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spliffenberger is looking to work his way around to McCriux's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Spliffenberger controlling the pace for now.
McCriux is trying to stand up.
Spliffenberger trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Spliffenberger takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
McCriux knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Spliffenberger on the ground.
Spliffenberger trying to control but McCriux is having none of it.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Spliffenberger is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Spliffenberger extends the arm and McCriux is forced to tap!
