Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gary Bunn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremiah Ethan Cruz! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cruz leaves Bunn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Cruz misses with an uppercut
and Bunn counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Bunn's corner is telling him to maintain position. Bunn trying to control but Cruz is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Bunn with a flurry of punches that miss. Bunn sitting in guard here, content to control.

Gary Bunn has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Cruz loads up on a big right hand but Bunn slips the punch. Bunn moves out of range as Cruz strikes. Cruz swings away with a body shot that misses
and Bunn counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Bunn passes to side control. The ground and pound from Bunn seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. A lull in the action here as Bunn stalls from top position. Bunn working the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruz takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Bunn advances to mount. Bunn looking to control and managing it successfully. Bunn is in the full mount, landing strikes. Bunn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bunn lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Cruz hang on? Bunn controlling the pace for now. Cruz holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Bunn tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Bunn in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Bunn controlling from mount. Bunn postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cruz looks a forlorn figure.

Bunn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bunn slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Bunn trying to control the position from guard on top but Cruz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

We're going to have a standup here because Gary Bunn wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Cruz misses the body punch and Bunn counters with a nice double leg into guard. Bunn wants to control from the top but Cruz keeps moving. Bunn passes into half guard. Bunn keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Gary Bunn wasn't doing enough on the ground. Cruz throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Bunn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cruz won't be happy with that. Bunn throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Cruz is pushing Bunn's head away, looking to escape. Bunn manages to hold on to the position though. Bunn working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cruz can do anything to dispel that myth. Bunn tries to advance to mount but can't. Cruz is not content to let Bunn control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gary Bunn dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bunn. Bunn uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cruz. Bunn avoids the body shot from Cruz.

and Bunn counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cruz's guard now. Gary Bunn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cruz working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bunn. Bunn seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Bunn trying to control but Cruz is working from the bottom.
