And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sponge Bobichus!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Illya Tyunina and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bobichus shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mendez is trying to defend but Bobichus finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Bobichus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mendez keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendez looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Bobichus stalling.
Mendez is not content to let Bobichus control the position.
Bobichus prevents Mendez from improving his position.
Mendez is staying active underneath Bobichus, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sponge Bobichus.
Bobichus throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Mendez has his takedown stuffed
and Bobichus counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mendez!
Mendez is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bobichus goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Mendez turns into him and now he's in Bobichus's guard.
Bobichus looking for a sweep. Not yet Bobichus, not yet.

Mendez wants to control from the top but Bobichus keeps moving.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mendez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Mendez has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Bobichus to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Mendez is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Bobichus pulls down on the head and he's put Mendez to sleep! This one is all over!
