PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between JR DNice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Leonidis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DNice is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. JR DNice has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, JR DNice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, King Leonidis!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Leonidis drives through and clinches with DNice against the cage.
DNice is breathing heavily.

Leonidis jumps guard.
Leonidis trying to control the position here.
Leonidis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst DNice is controlling him.
Leonidis controlling DNice's posture.
DNice has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Leonidis is proving hard to escape from.

Leonidis wriggles free and stands up.

Leonidis drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Leonidis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Leonidis is pushing down on DNice's leg trying to pass to half guard. DNice is fighting to maintain full guard but Leonidis has managed to sneak the leg through.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
It looks like Leonidis might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
It looks like Leonidis is going to stand back up.
DNice has hold of Leonidis's hands but Leonidis slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Leonidis sitting and controlling from the half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. King Leonidis was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Leonidis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Leonidis lands in his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Leonidis tries to stand but DNice is controlling from the bottom.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Leonidis wants to control from the top but DNice keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by King Leonidis.

Leonidis has taken the fight to the clinch.
DNice prevents the takedown attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Leonidis avoids a wild elbow strike from DNice.

Leonidis wants the takedown. DNice is fighting it off but Leonidis persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in DNice's guard against the cage.

DNice working for a triangle but Leonidis defends it easily.
Leonidis thows a big elbow that misses.
DNice has momentary wrist control but Leonidis slips an elbow through the middle.
DNice preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Leonidis missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Leonidis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. DNice is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Leonidis dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Leonidis tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but DNice swivels and escapes.

Leonidis moves into the clinch.
Leonidis lands an elbow inside.
A short right from Leonidis.

Leonidis breaks the clinch.

Leonidis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Leonidis lands in his opponent's guard.
Leonidis content to stall in guard here.
Leonidis trying to control the position from guard on top but DNice is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

DNice working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Leonidis.

King Leonidis has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Leonidis drives through with a takedown into guard.
Leonidis wants to pass the guard but DNice is keeping the position.
Leonidis trying to stand up but can't free himself from DNice's guard.

Leonidis stands up and waves to DNice to follow him.

DNice looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
DNice pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Leonidis is keeping the position for now.
DNice postures up.
DNice trying to control but Leonidis is working from the bottom.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Leonidis is controlling DNice's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of JR DNice.
Leonidis tries for a takedown but DNice circles away easily

and DNice counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by DNice.
Leonidis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
JR DNice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of King Leonidis.
DNice tries to pull guard but Leonidis won't allow it.

Leonidis jumps into guard, dragging DNice to the mat.
Leonidis is looking to sweep but instead, DNice has passed into half guard.
DNice prevents Leonidis from improving his position.

DNice is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Leonidis's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Leonidis is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
DNice trying to control but he's not successful this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Leonidis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Leonidis pushes DNice up against the cage in a clinch.

Leonidis manages to break the clinch.
Leonidis connects with a solid leg kick.
DNice shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Leonidis counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Leonidis prevents DNice from standing back up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Leonidis in particular looking to stall.
DNice won't allow Leonidis to pass to mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
DNice tries to roll over but Leonidis keeps him under control.
DNice trying to hold on to Leonidis's head to control him but Leonidis postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
DNice is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Leonidis scores with a couple of nice shots.
DNice is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Leonidis works his foot free and advances to mount.
DNice tries to hold on but Leonidis postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Leonidis cracks DNice with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Leonidis controlling from mount.
Leonidis trying to control but DNice is having none of it.
DNice wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Leonidis just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Leonidis lands shots from the back.
Leonidis keeps control of the position easily here as DNice tries to buck him off.
DNice looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
DNice trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

DNice defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Leonidis's arms.
Leonidis is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Leonidis is working the ground and pound. Can DNice escape?

And that's the end of the fight!
King Leonidis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Leonidis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
