Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fred Micks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shawn Carter!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter defending well as Micks loads up on a big left hand.
Micks misses with a hook.
Carter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Micks moves away.
Micks smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


It looks like Shawn Carter has been cut.
Carter staying out of range there.
Carter delivers a nice body kick.
Carter thuds his shin into the meat of Micks's side.
Micks keeps the fight on the outside.
Carter throws a nice outside leg kick.
Carter displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Micks throws out the jab.
Carter just misses with a punch to the body.
Carter slips under a jab from Micks.
Carter misses with a wild body shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from Micks. Carter does a little dance to reset his feet.
Micks shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carter as he avoids it easily.
Carter throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Carter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Micks throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
An inside leg kick lands from Carter.
Carter moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Shawn Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Micks throws a body punch but Carter moves out of range.
Micks connects with a body shot that sends Carter's belly button to the back.
Carter scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Micks throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Carter counters with a low kick, right behind Micks 's knee.
Micks blocks a leg kick.
Micks takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Micks checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Carter scores with a kick to the body.

Carter is looking to clinch but Micks is avoiding it.
Carter connects with the punch.
Micks misses the jab.
Carter dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Micks. That did some damage!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Micks drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Micks doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Carter counters with a straight right hand.
Shawn Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some bone on bone action there as Micks checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Carter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Micks throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Carter moves out of range as Micks strikes.

A shot to the body from Micks misses
and Carter counters with a three punch combo that has Micks backing up. Micks nods at Carter to acknowledge the strikes.
Carter dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Micks. That did some damage!

Micks misses with a right hand
and Carter counters with a solid body kick.
Micks throws a hook but Carter avoids it easily.
A jab from Carter misses.
Micks throws a poor cross that misses
and Carter counters with a left to the body.
Nice straight punches there by Micks. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Micks.
Micks swats away the attempt to clinch by Carter.
Carter lands with a thumping leg kick.

Carter rushes Micks and presses him up against the cage.
A short uppercut from Micks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carter lands a right hand that snaps the head of Micks backwards.
Carter tries to land a knee to the head but Micks blocks with his arms.
Carter creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Micks's defenses.
Carter is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Carter stalls.
Micks tries to break free but Carter pushes him back against the cage.
Carter looking to throw knees to the head but Micks is blocking nicely.
Micks is looking to break free of the clinch but Carter has double underhooks.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carter comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Micks gets control of Carter's arms and successfully pulls guard. Micks will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Micks is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carter is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Shawn Carter will probably get the nod.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Carter lands with a shot to the body.
Carter throws a quick inside leg kick.
Micks misses with a lunging right hand
and Carter counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Micks slips a straight right by Carter.
Carter is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Micks rather than just go for the knockout.
Carter swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Micks connects with a jab.
Carter thumps Micks with a low kick.
Micks misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Carter lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Micks throws a right hand that misses
and Carter makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Micks is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Micks misses with a takedown attempt - Carter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Carter counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Carter stalks Micks and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Micks's face. Micks staggers backwards, shaken.

Carter throws a leg kick but Micks moved away.
Carter buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Micks misses with a hook to the body
enabling Carter to counter with a crisp jab.
Micks ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carter moves away.
Carter cracks Micks with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Carter misses with a looping right.
Carter tries to clinch but Micks moves away

and Micks counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Micks throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carter can do anything to dispel that myth.
Carter wants to stand up but Micks is controlling him.
Micks postures up and lands a big shot to Carter's brow.

Carter is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Micks trying to control but Carter is working from the bottom.
Micks throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Micks trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Micks missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Micks throwing strikes from guard but Carter blocks nicely.
Carter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Micks tries to free his leg and advance position but Carter is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Micks throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Carter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Micks throws a strike but Carter rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Micks tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Carter got a little sloppy there for a moment and Micks has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carter has managed to get both his arms back between Micks's legs - danger averted.

Micks has his feet on Carter's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Carter takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Micks catches Carter with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Carter takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Carter is breathing heavily.
Micks looks to score with a jab to the body but Carter is just out of range.
Carter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Carter tries to clinch but Micks is having none of it.
Carter throws a combination that misses
and Micks counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


That has opened up Shawn Carter's cut even more.
Micks fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Carter on the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Micks dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Shawn Carter's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Micks walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

and Carter counters with a nice leg kick.
Carter misses with a double jab.
Carter throws a leg kick but Micks moved away.
Micks misses with a takedown attempt - Carter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Carter tries to clinch up but Micks circles away and keeps his distance.
Carter throws a hook but Micks blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carter uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Micks.
Carter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Micks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Carter feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Micks's calf.

Carter tries to score with a low kick but Micks moves his leg out of the way.

A head kick from Carter lands but Micks takes it in his stride.
Carter turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

and Carter counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Carter.
Carter takes a swing at Micks's ribcage but misses.

Carter looks to throw a body kick
and Micks connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Micks takes a head kick and keeps coming.
An inside leg kick lands from Carter.
Carter looks to land a left hand but Micks moved out of range nicely.
Micks takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Micks misses with an uppercut
and Carter counters with a nice body kick.
Micks shoots in looking for a takedown. Carter tries to sprawl out of it but Micks keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Carter turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Micks misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fred Micks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fight stays on the outside here - Carter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Carter lands with a thumping leg kick.
Carter lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Micks throws an ugly left hook that misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Carter moves into range and connects with a jab.
A solid leg kick lands there for Carter.
Micks throws a body punch but Carter moves out of range.
Carter thows a body shot but no joy.
Carter getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Carter uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Micks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Micks throws a jab but it's blocked by Carter.
Carter throws a hook but Micks blocks it.
Micks takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Micks swings for the body but Carter moves out of range.
Carter throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Carter throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Micks's head.
Carter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Micks drops his hands momentarily and Carter takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Carter tries to close the distance and clinch but Micks swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Carter throws a leg kick that is checked

and Micks counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Carter!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Micks is landing with some decent strikes but Carter is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


The cut above Shawn Carter's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Micks trying to control but he's not successful this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Shawn Carter.
I think Carter has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
