PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Heng Keo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Kiedis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Fear Factory - H-K (Hunter Killer). Kiedis has chosen Give It Away as his entrance music. Anthony Kiedis acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Heng Keo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Anthony Kiedis!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Keo misses
and Kiedis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Keo looks to clinch
and Kiedis counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kiedis throws out a leg kick but Keo moves out of range and Kiedis only half commits.
Keo takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Keo misses with a shot to the body
and Kiedis counters with a body kick.
Kiedis throws a sloppy head kick and Keo moves out of range easily.
Keo checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Keo connects with a leg kick. Kiedis looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A thudding body kick lands there by Kiedis!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Keo crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kiedis - the referee stops the clock and Keo gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kiedis. Keo manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Keo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Kiedis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Keo, pushing him back against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Keo is trying to force a seperation but Kiedis has the dominant position.

Keo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A looping hook to the body misses from Keo. Kiedis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Keo scores with a head kick. Kiedis tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

and Kiedis counters with a nice low kick that buckles Keo's knee momentarily.
Kiedis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Keo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Kiedis pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kiedis takes a swing at Keo's ribcage but misses.
Keo misses with a wild body shot.
Kiedis connects with an inside leg kick.
Keo on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Kiedis counters with a head kick. That will keep Keo thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!


It looks like Heng Keo has been cut.
Kiedis walks forward, straight into a front kick from Keo.
A jab from Kiedis finds it's way through Keo's defenses.

and Kiedis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Keo fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kiedis is out of range.
Heng Keo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kiedis turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Keo is looking to wear down Kiedis with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

and Kiedis counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kiedis throws the kick towards the body but Keo avoids it.
Keo wants to clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Keo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kiedis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Keo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Keo's back!

Kiedis is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Keo is defending well though. Kiedis let's go of the attempt for now.
Anthony Kiedis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kiedis really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Keo.

Kiedis's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Keo looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Keo's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
What can Keo do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

And that's the end of the fight!
Anthony Kiedis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kiedis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
