Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Poutine Pete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Poutine Pete has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Thompson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pete throws a right and a left that Thompson avoids nicely.
Pete looks to land a combination but Thompson avoids it well.
Thompson checks a leg kick.
Pete tries to clinch but Thompson moves out of range.
Pete throws a half hearted mid kick.
Pete tries to close the distance and clinch up but Thompson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pete misses with a two punch combination.
Pete shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thompson but Thompson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Pete throws a nice looking combination but Thompson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Pete is looking to slow Thompson down with leg kicks.
Pete lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

It looks like Alex Thompson has been cut.
Thompson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pete tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Pete rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Thompson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Pete moves into the clinch successfully.
Pete is trying to break free.

Pete breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pete connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Thompson to the floor! Pete dives in looking for the finish!

Thompson is rocked!
Pete looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Thompson is still in real trouble! Can Pete finish him?
Pete is looking to pass Thompson's guard but actually Thompson recovers to full guard.
Thompson seems to have recovered his senses.

Pete uses his free foot to push down on Thompson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Thompson.
Pete takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pete is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Thompson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Poutine Pete just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Pete throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Thompson.

Thompson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pete swivels and escapes.
Pete throws a left that rocks Thompson and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Pete dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Thompson regain composure!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Thompson manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pete's best efforts.
Thompson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Thompson.
Pete takes a decent strike to the side of the head.

Pete is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Thompson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Thompson is striking but Pete is not phased and passes to half guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Thompson throws a head kick but Pete moves out of range.
Thompson avoids the body shot from Pete.
Pete misses with a series of wild punches.
Thompson shoots in for a double leg but Pete sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Thompson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and Thompson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Pete gets a clinch.
Pete throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Thompson blocks it with crossed arms.

Pete breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pete has had enough of the clinch but Thompson keeps him there for the moment.

Pete using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Thompson has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Thompson can't get the takedown.
Thompson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Poutine Pete has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Thompson.

Thompson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pete moves into range and connects with a jab.

Pete will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Pete looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A head kick lands from Pete that sends Thompson to the canvas. Thompson tries to scramble back to his feet but Pete brings him back down into side control.
