Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roddy Piper!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Sergei Dronov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
More blocks a head kick by Piper.
Some bone on bone action there as More checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Piper tries to land a front kick but More steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
More blocks a low kick nicely.
More takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Piper tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Piper throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Piper tries to sprawl but More drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Piper is looking for a sweep. More is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Piper pushes More off looking to stand but More dives back in and keeps control.
Piper slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
More wants to stand but Piper is controlling his posture from full guard.
Piper is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
More stopping the sweep attempt from Piper.

More gets to his feet - Piper follows without any prompting.

More throws a combination that misses
and Piper counters with a body kick that stops More in his tracks momentarily.

More changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Piper looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Piper gets back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
More wants to stand up but Piper has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Piper is looking to improve his position.

More decides to return to a standing position.
More fails with a takedown attempt.
Piper feints and then cracks More's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow More down.
Crunch! Piper slams his shin into More's torso.
Piper works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Piper connects with a leg kick. More looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
More fails with a takedown attempt.
More is breathing heavily.
Piper is looking to slow More down with leg kicks.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
More throws a combination that misses
and Piper counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Piper lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Thomas More seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
More throws a right and a left that Piper avoids nicely.

Piper pulls out of a head kick attempt.

More will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

More sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

More shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Piper is trying to defend but More finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Piper manages to escape and get back to his feet!

A telegraphed takedown attempt from More is defended easily by Piper.
Piper feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mores jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
More takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

More shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Piper pinned against the cage. Piper gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
More will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.
Piper throws a head kick but More moves out of range.
Piper misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Piper leaves More with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

More gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Piper.

More shoots in and gets a takedown into Piper's guard.
Piper is looking to sweep but instead, More has passed into half guard.
More is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The fighters are battling for position here. Piper manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Piper looking for a guillotine here but More defends easily.
Piper is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

More is looking to stand up but Piper won't let him.

Piper might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control More kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Roddy Piper.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

More feints and as Piper raises his hands in defense, More changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

More gets to his feet - Piper follows without any prompting.
More paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A solid leg kick lands there for Piper.
More scores with a nice right hand.
More blocks a head kick by Piper.

More fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Piper sprawls well initially but More persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

More decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
More scores with a one two! Piper had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
More is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
More throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
More looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
More has a takedown stuffed.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

More moves forwards but Piper connects with a nice, crisp jab.

More drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Piper is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Piper is looking to advance position but More won't allow it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Piper in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
More wants to stand up but Piper is controlling him.

Piper is looking to work some ground and pound but More has wrist control.

Piper wants to control from the top but More keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Roddy Piper hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Piper dodges the punch combination from More.
Nice body kick there by Piper.
Piper looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Piper throws a head kick that half lands.
More avoids the head kick by Piper.

More closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Piper quickly recovers to half guard.
Piper looks like he's trying to stand up.
Piper tries to roll over but More keeps him under control.

More wants to stand but Piper has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Piper is trying to control but can't.
Piper manages to get to full guard.

Piper looking for submissions from the bottom but instead More passes into side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Thomas More.
I think More has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
