PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between DJ Brosu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Baki Dzaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DJ Brosu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Baki Dzaki!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brosu darts in trying to clinch
and Dzaki counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like DJ Brosu has been cut.
Brosu has his takedown stuffed
and Dzaki counters with a stiff right hand.
Brosu with a lazy takedown attempt
enabling Dzaki to counter with a crisp jab.
Brosu throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dzaki counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Dzaki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brosu's waist but Brosu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dzaki off to one side.

Brosu stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Brosu wants it to stay on the feet.
DJ Brosu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Baki Dzaki.

Dzaki looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Dzaki stops Brosu from getting back to his feet.

Brosu trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Brosu is staying active underneath Dzaki, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Baki Dzaki hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Brosu manages to get to full guard.
Dzaki looks gassed!

Dzaki has gone for a leg lock! Brosu slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dzaki's guard.

Dzaki keeping moving, preventing Brosu from controlling successfully.
Brosu works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Dzaki is concentrating on defense, preventing Brosu from advancing position.
Brosu frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Brosu wants to control the pace but Dzaki is squirming around nicely.

Brosu has hold of Dzaki's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dzaki manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Dzaki wants to get back to his feet.
Brosu trying to control but Dzaki is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Poor strikes thrown by Brosu there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Dzaki is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Brosu has taken his back.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Brosu is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Brosu is trying to stick to Dzaki's back but Dzaki is turning into Brosu. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Brosu's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Dzaki.
Dzaki tries to free his leg and advance position but Brosu is retaining full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Brosu throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dzaki escapes and throws Brosu's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Dzaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brosu keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Dzaki is staying active underneath Brosu, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Brosu tries to stand and escape but Dzaki actually recovers to full guard.

Brosu not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Dzaki utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We're going to have a standup here because DJ Brosu wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Brosu tries to sprawl but Dzaki drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Dzaki is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dzaki is keen to just control but Brosu is a slippery customer.
Dzaki is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Dzaki might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Brosu kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Brosu gets back to full guard.
Brosu is pulling down on Dzaki's head to control his posture.
Brosu lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Dzaki!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dzaki wants to finish this one by submission but Brosu is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Dzaki.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Baki Dzaki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dzaki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
