Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Burlington Spatchcock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bret Greggs! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spatchcock shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Greggs as he jumps to the side. Spatchcock tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Greggs slips a jab and a cross from Spatchcock.
Spatchcock lands with a straight right. Greggs didn't see that one coming. Spatchcock fails to land with a series of punches.
Greggs blocks a head kick by Spatchcock.
Spatchcock misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Spatchcock throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Spatchcock dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Greggs. That did some damage! Spatchcock tests Greggs's chin there with a solid looking shot. Spatchcock jabbing away but nothing is landing. Spatchcock is looking to clinch. Greggs closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Spatchcock looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Some wild striking there from Spatchcock.

Spatchcock looks for the body kick but Greggs saw that one coming. Spatchcock swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Spatchcock is breathing heavily. Greggs uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Spatchcock.
Greggs shoots in for a takedown but Spatchcock shows good takedown defense. Spatchcock goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Greggs shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Spatchcock pinned against the cage. Spatchcock gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Greggs takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Greggs swats away the attempt to clinch by Spatchcock. Spatchcock throws a sloppy head kick and Greggs moves out of range easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spatchcock gets a takedown into half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Spatchcock tries to stand but can't do so whilst Greggs controls his leg. Greggs manages to get to full guard.
Spatchcock trying to stand up but can't free himself from Greggs's guard. Greggs is working an open guard so Spatchcock takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Spatchcock tries to clinch there but Greggs circles away.
Spatchcock throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Spatchcock throws a right hand that Greggs ducks under and follows up with a left that Greggs also avoids with ease. Spatchcock throws a sloppy head kick and Greggs moves out of range easily. Spatchcock feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Greggs's calf. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Spatchcock scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spatchcock will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Spatchcock scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Greggs is rocked! No joy there for Spatchcock, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Greggs avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A left and a right from Spatchcock both land. Nice combination. Greggs is still on wobbly legs! Can Spatchcock finish him? Spatchcock doesn't succeed with the takedown and Greggs counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Spatchcock's guard now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Burlington Spatchcock. That's going to take a lot out of him. This has been an exciting period of action! Greggs with a nice head shot there. Greggs seems to have recovered his senses. Spatchcock could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Greggs working some strikes from top position. Greggs keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Spatchcock's head. Greggs pushing down on Spatchcock's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Greggs looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Spatchcock with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Spatchcock tries to kick Greggs off but Greggs keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Spatchcock trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Spatchcock flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Spatchcock is trying to stand.
Spatchcock makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spatchcock with a poor takedown and Greggs decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Spatchcock's guard. Spatchcock is looking to stand up but Greggs isn't so interested in that idea. Greggs working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Spatchcock wants to stand but Greggs is controlling the position. Greggs thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Greggs is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Greggs advances to half guard. Spatchcock looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Greggs looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Greggs lands a nice short elbow. Spatchcock is trying to stand back up but Greggs is controlling him
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spatchcock taking some punishment here, with Greggs in his half guard. Spatchcock wants to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Burlington Spatchcock dominated that round. The cut man is working on Bret Greggs's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Spatchcock tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Greggs paws at him with a jab and circles away. Spatchcock throws a body punch but Greggs moves out of range. Nice takedown defense from Spatchcock. No joy for Greggs on that attempt. Spatchcock lands with a right and another and another! Greggs is in big trouble! Spatchcock lands again and this time it's lights out for Greggs! A quality knockout there for Spatchcock.
