PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andres Fronteira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Marciano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marciano has chosen New York as his entrance music. Damian Marciano is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andres Fronteira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damian Marciano!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jorge Garcia and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fronteira swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Marciano looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Fronteira changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Marciano tries to avoid it but Fronteira manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Marciano to the ground. Marciano escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Marciano misses with a right hand
and Fronteira counters with a thumping low kick.

Fronteira closes the distance and pushes Marciano back into the cage.

Fronteira has picked Marciano up - he's going for a ride! Fronteira dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Fronteira trying to pass the guard but Marciano defending well.
Marciano has hold of Fronteira's hands but Fronteira slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Fronteira is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Marciano sees it coming and defends easily.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Fronteira in particular looking to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Fronteira is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Fronteira trying to mount his opponent but Marciano defends it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Fronteira decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Fronteira darts in and clinches Marciano up against the cage.
Marciano misses with the head strike.

Fronteira pulls guard successfully.
Fronteira looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Marciano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fronteira. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fronteira striking off his back but it's not causing Marciano any problems.
Fronteira not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Fronteira working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marciano doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Fronteira is tightening it up a little... Marciano has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Marciano reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Marciano taps out! nice BJJ there by Fronteira!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Andres Fronteira!
