The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McDonald looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
McDonald frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

McDonald with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

McDonald is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Boyle has managed to escape the submission attempt.
McDonald looking to control but Boyle is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
McDonald is trying to take his opponent's back.

McDonald is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Boyle can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Boyle has given up his back here. Will McDonald look for the submission or keep pounding away?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McDonald has the hooks in. Boyle is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

McDonald is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Boyle is defending well though. McDonald let's go of the attempt for now.

Boyle tries to escape but McDonald has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Boyle is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

McDonald could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Boyle controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Boyle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McDonald. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McDonald is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
