Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Travis Merle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jai Setright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Setright comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Setright has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Jai Setright has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Travis Merle's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Travis Merle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jai Setright! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Merle misses with a low kick.
Setright looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Setright throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Merle will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Setright lands a nice shot that snaps Merle's head back.

Merle throws a head kick that misses and Setright counters with a leg kick. Merle tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Setright swivels and escapes. Merle tries to clinch up but Setright circles away and keeps his distance. Horrible takedown by Merle or perhaps it was just good defense by Setright which made him look bad. Setright keeps the fight on the outside. Setright throws a sloppy head kick and Merle moves out of range easily.

Merle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Merle is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Setright defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Merle. A good leg kick by Setright. Merle fails with an attempt to clinch.
Setright leaves Merle with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Merle fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Merle is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Merle drops down looking for an ankle pick but Setright pulls his leg out and moves away.
Merle looks to land a combination but Setright avoids it well. Merle tries to clinch up and Setright counters with a series of strikes. Merle will be more careful next time no doubt. Travis Merle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Setright misses with a head kick.

Merle shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Setright defends it nicely. Merle lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Setright circles away quickly and effectively. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Merle. Setright circles away from the clinch attempt and Setright holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Merle is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Setright gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Merle is trying to drag Setright to the mat but Setright just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Merle tries for a takedown but Setright manages to get underhooks.

Merle decides to stand up, so the ref orders Setright to his feet. Merle wants to clinch up but Setright keeps it at a distance. Merle throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Setright's waist but Setright gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Merle off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Travis Merle. That's going to take a lot out of him. Merle uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Setright.

Merle feints and as Setright raises his hands in defense, Merle changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Merle is looking to wear down Setright with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Setright stuffs the takedown attempt from Merle. Merle gets slowly back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Jai Setright comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Setright has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
