Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Richardson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richardson has chosen This Calling by All That Remains as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richardson is looking to chop away at Cortez's legs.
Cortez loads up on a big right hand but Richardson slips the punch.
Sloppy strikes from Richardson. Those never looked like landing.
Richardson moves out of range of the strikes.
Cortez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Richardson misses with a head kick.
Cortez rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Richardson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Cortez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Richardson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cortez somewhat.

and Richardson counters with a three punch combo that has Cortez backing up. Cortez nods at Richardson to acknowledge the strikes.
Cortez cracks Richardson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Richardson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Cortez finds it's way round the side to connect with Richardson's head.

Cortez is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cortez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cortez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

and Richardson counters with a crisp one two that drops Cortez! Richardson thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Cortez to his feet! Cortez is in big trouble!

Richardson lands with a right and another and another! Cortez is in big trouble! Richardson lands again and this time it's lights out for Cortez! A quality knockout there for Richardson.
