Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jackson Teller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Colt Riley! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Riley lands with a straight right. Teller didn't see that one coming.
It looks like Jackson Teller has been cut. Teller takes one on the chin but seems OK.
A swing and a miss from Riley. Riley misses with a wild body shot. A jab from Riley misses. Teller gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Riley counters with a lovely straight right hand! Riley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Riley connects with a nice looking jab.
Teller misses with a takedown and Riley counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's one minute gone in the round. Teller swats away the attempt to clinch by Riley. Riley throws a shot from downtown. Teller moves away and avoids it. Riley throws a hook but Teller avoids it easily. Riley swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Teller avoids the body shot from Riley.
Teller uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Riley.
Riley misses with a body shot
and Teller connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Teller has his takedown stuffed and Riley counters with a straight right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jackson Teller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Riley misses the jab. Colt Riley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Riley lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Teller slips under a jab. Riley looks to land a left hand but Teller moved out of range nicely. Riley connects with a right hand. Teller shakes it off. A slow jab from Riley misses its intended target. Teller moves forwards but Riley connects with a nice, crisp jab. Teller uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Riley. Riley tries to bum rush Teller with a series of wild strikes but Teller uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riley takes a swing at Teller's ribcage but misses. Riley swings for the body but Teller moves out of range.
Teller shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Riley counters with a stiff right hand. Teller slips a jab from Riley. Teller keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Riley. Teller moves away from the strike by Riley. Teller slips a jab from Riley. Riley moves in looking to clinch but Teller pushes him off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Riley throws a body punch but Teller moves out of range. Riley throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Teller moves away from the strike by Riley. Riley throws an ugly left hook that misses
enabling Teller to counter with a crisp jab. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Teller. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Riley just misses with a punch to the body.
Riley connects with a body shot that sends Teller's belly button to the back. A big right from Riley misses. Riley throws an overhand right that lands on Teller's shoulder, as Teller tries to avoid the shot. Sloppy strikes from Riley. Those never looked like landing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Colt Riley dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jackson Teller's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Riley throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Teller. Colt Riley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Teller scores with a shot to the body.
Riley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Riley misses the jab. A telegraphed right hand from Riley misses the target. Teller bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Riley throws a looping overhand right but Teller ducks down to avoid it. Riley rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Teller moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Riley misses with a right hand and Teller cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riley throws an off balance right hand
and Teller counters with a stiff right hand. Riley misses with a looping right. Riley just misses with a punch to the body.
Riley lands a nice looking body shot.
Riley misses with a wild body shot. Riley looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Riley sizes up Teller with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Teller shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Riley counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riley throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Teller counters with a nice body shot. Colt Riley seems to be getting the better of the standup. Teller thows a body shot but no joy. Riley misses with a jab to the body
and Teller counters with a takedown into side control. Riley is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Teller missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Teller throws a strike but Riley avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Riley is adopting a defensive guard. Teller drops back, looking for a kneebar! Riley looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Riley looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Riley! Teller is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riley slows the pace down. Riley lands a few punches from side control. Teller is being controlled here. Riley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Teller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Riley's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Colt Riley wasn't active enough on the ground. Riley connects with a single shot there. A combination from Riley does no damage. Riley tries to clinch there but Teller circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Colt Riley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jackson Teller's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Riley lands with a cross. Teller misses with a takedown attempt letting Riley counter with a right hand. Teller takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Jackson Teller's cut is getting worse. Riley keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Teller is rocked! Teller takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Oh Teller is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Riley measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Teller! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!
