PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zombie Boy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasily Kharlamov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kharlamov comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Russian National Anthem kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Boy is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Zombie Boy has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kharlamov shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Kharlamov throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Boy stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Kharlamov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Boy sprawls well initially but Kharlamov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kharlamov is keen to just control but Boy is a slippery customer.

Boy has one foot on Kharlamov's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Kharlamov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Boy manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Boy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kharlamov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kharlamov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Kharlamov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
