Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roger Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Stann! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stann throws a hook to the side of Gracie's head but Gracie sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Stann closes the distance and lands a one-two.
It looks like Roger Gracie has been cut. Gracie misses with a takedown attempt and Stann decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gracie's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Stann throwing strikes but missing. Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Stann distracts Gracie with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Gracie working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Stann. Stann tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard. Gracie throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Stann tries to stand but Gracie is controlling from the bottom. Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stann defends it easily. Stann scoring with some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie has a closed guard, preventing Stann from standing up. Stann loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Stann working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Stann is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Gracie has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Stann is looking to defend but Gracie has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Stann! Gracie pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Stann taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Roger Gracie!
