Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Calzaghe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Drapeau!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drapeau throws a combination that misses
and Calzaghe cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Drapeau throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Calzaghe cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Calzaghe has his takedown stuffed
and Drapeau counters with a series of strikes. Calzaghe will be more careful next time no doubt.

Drapeau falls off balance throwing a combination

and Calzaghe moves into the clinch.
Drapeau wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Calzaghe stalling.

Drapeau looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Calzaghe successfully pulls guard.
Drapeau looking to sit in guard and control but Calzaghe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Calzaghe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Calzaghe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Drapeau swivels though and keeps the full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Joe Calzaghe wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Calzaghe closes the distance and pushes Drapeau back into the cage.

Drapeau falls off balance throwing a combination

and Calzaghe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Drapeau's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Drapeau holds on and takes a little breather.
Calzaghe will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Calzaghe wants to pass the guard but Drapeau is keeping the position.

Calzaghe is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Calzaghe chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Drapeau can pounce on him.

and Calzaghe counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Calzaghe is trying to control the action in half guard but Drapeau is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Drapeau is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Calzaghe's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Calzaghe's back!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Drapeau tries to control but Calzaghe wriggling away.

Calzaghe is in all sorts of trouble here.
Drapeau controlling the pace for now.
Drapeau unloads with some shots from mount but Calzaghe bucks and avoids them well.

Drapeau throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Calzaghe is looking to improve his position but Drapeau isn't that keen on the idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Calzaghe wants to control but Drapeau is having none of it.
Drapeau tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Calzaghe takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Drapeau tries to control but Calzaghe wriggling away.
Calzaghe wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Drapeau trying to control but Calzaghe is having none of it.
Drapeau might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Calzaghe kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Drapeau takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Calzaghe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Drapeau trying to control but he's not successful this time.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Drapeau is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Daniel Drapeau showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Calzaghe shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Drapeau's guard.

Drapeau is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Calzaghe scores with a couple of nice shots.
Calzaghe wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Drapeau uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Calzaghe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Drapeau keeps working.

Calzaghe looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Calzaghe is looking to take a break and control but Drapeau is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Drapeau gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Drapeau is looking for a sweep. Calzaghe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Drapeau tries to roll over but Calzaghe keeps him under control.
Calzaghe has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Calzaghe swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Drapeau is now in Calzaghe's guard. A big mistake from Calzaghe there, giving up the dominant position!

Joe Calzaghe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Calzaghe trying to control but Drapeau is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Joe Calzaghe.

and Calzaghe counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Calzaghe.
