And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Paulo Santos.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pappano shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Botelho napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pappano in side control lands a decent elbow.
Botelho is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Pappano is controlling him well.
Botelho tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pappano wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Botelho on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Botelho defending against the ground and pound.
Botelho sneaks back into half guard.
Pappano thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Pappano is thwarting Botelho's attempts to control the position.
Botelho pushes Pappano off looking to stand but Pappano dives back in and keeps control.
Pappano winds up and cracks Botelho with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Pappano passes to full mount!

It looks like Joao Botelho has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pappano connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Botelho bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Botelho thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Botelho is breathing heavily.
Pappano is pulling down on Botelho's head. It's preventing any offense from Botelho, at least for the moment.
Botelho would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Botelho throws a big right hand that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pappano wants to sweep but no luck.
Botelho wants to control from the top but Pappano keeps moving.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Pappano feints and as Botelho raises his hands in defense, Pappano changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pappano is working Botelho over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Jeez, Joao Botelho's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Joao Botelho's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
