Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mark Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and TrauMaa Iii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Iii has chosen D12 - Fight Music as his entrance music. Mark Hughes has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, TrauMaa Iii!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Iii avoids a punch combination nicely.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hughes, as that shot connected.
Iii throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Iii throws a head kick but Hughes moves out of range.
Iii looks to score with a jab to the body but Hughes is just out of range.
Mark Hughes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Hughes. Those never looked like landing.
Hughes misses with a jab to the body

and Iii counters by clinching up.

Iii's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Iii fails with the takedown
and Hughes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hughes lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Iii takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Hughes throws a right hand that misses

and Iii holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Hughes working hard to break the clinch.

Iii jumps into guard, dragging Hughes to the mat.
Iii is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Iii keeping moving, preventing Hughes from controlling successfully.
Hughes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hughes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Iii is keeping the position for now.
Iii is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Iii is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Iii not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Iii takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hughes keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Iii looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hughes with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Iii not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Iii wants to take a breather but Hughes is having none of it.

Iii postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hughes to stand up.
Iii uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hughes.
Hughes lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Iii at a distance.
Hughes is breathing heavily.
Hughes takes a swing at Iii's ribcage but misses.

Iii closes the distance and clinches.

Iii's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Iii fails with the takedown.
Iii avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hughes walks into a left hand.

Hughes tries to sprawl but Iii drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Iii is looking to take a break and control but Hughes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Iii takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hughes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Iii on the ground.
Iii thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Iii passes into side control, despite Hughes's attempt to control the position.
Hughes gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Iii landing strikes, looking to finish!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

TrauMaa Iii dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Hughes throws a right and a left that both miss.
Iii shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hughes pinned against the cage. Hughes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hughes swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

so Iii counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Iii is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hughes wants to stand up but Iii is controlling him.
Iii is standing up over Hughes. Hughes looks to escape but Iii dives into side control.
Iii working away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Iii scoring with punches from side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hughes looks to move to half guard but instead Iii has passed into mount! Damn!
Hughes tries to hold on but Iii postures up.
Iii controlling the position easily from mount.

Iii working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Hughes looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Iii! Submission of the night perhaps?
