The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nunes rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Carioca connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Carioca shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nunes sprawls well. Nunes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Carioca gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Nunes. No joy for Carioca on that attempt.
Carioca swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Nunes.
Carioca shoots for a double leg takedown but Nunes sprawls well. He's pushed Carioca's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joselito Carioca. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Nunes counters with a stiff right hand.

and Nunes counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

and Carioca counters with a three punch combo that has Nunes backing up. Nunes nods at Carioca to acknowledge the strikes.
Carioca takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Carioca is breathing heavily.
Nunes throws a hook but Carioca blocks it.
Nunes swings widly with a right hand
and Carioca counters with a right hand to the body.

Carioca tries to keep at a distance but Nunes has taken the fight into the clinch.

Carioca successfully pulls guard.
Nunes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carioca is keeping the position for now.
Nunes passes Carioca's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nunes sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Carioca's guard.

Nunes is pressing down on Carioca's thigh, looking to free his foot. Carioca is holding on for now.

Nunes decides to stand up, so the ref orders Carioca to his feet.

Nunes lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Carioca takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Oh Carioca is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Nunes is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Carioca hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
