Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dave Kaplan!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gonzalez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kaplan's half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kaplan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gonzalez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Gonzalez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kaplan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gonzalez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kaplan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gonzalez has managed to get both his arms back between Kaplan's legs - danger averted.

Gonzalez winds up and cracks Kaplan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Gonzalez in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Kaplan tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Gonzalez!
