Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kaimana Ladera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladera comes to the cage accompanied by Otherside Red hot chili peppers. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kaimana Ladera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takanori Gomi!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Alyssa Summers and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi misses with a few strikes there.
Ladera wants to clinch up but Gomi keeps it at a distance.
Gomi keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Gomi goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Ladera tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gomi looks to land a combination but Ladera avoids it well.
Gomi misses with a few strikes there.
Ladera throws a head kick that misses.
Ladera avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gomi lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ladera at a distance.
Ladera has closed the distance and engaged Gomi in a clinch.
Gomi is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ladera pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Gomi throws a punch but it's blocked by Ladera.

Ladera blocks an uppercut.
Ladera is trying to trip Gomi. He has hold of a leg but Gomi is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ladera persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Ladera tries to free his leg and advance position but Gomi is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ladera stays in close to Gomi's body and controls the position.
Ladera won't allow Gomi to sweep him here.

Ladera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gomi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ladera controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We're going to have a standup here because Kaimana Ladera wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Ladera throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Gomi counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gomi misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ladera fails with a takedown attempt.
Gomi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gomi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gomi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gomi throws a right hand that Ladera ducks under and follows up with a left that Ladera also avoids with ease.
Ladera misses with a body kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ladera tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sloppy strikes from Gomi. Those never looked like landing.

Takanori Gomi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gomi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gomi throws a nice looking combination but Ladera bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gomi misses with a double jab.
Horrible takedown by Ladera or perhaps it was just good defense by Gomi which made him look bad.
Ladera bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ladera decides to stand back up.
Ladera takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Gomi moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Gomi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gomi throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Ladera misses with a low kick.
Ladera tries to land a front kick but Gomi steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Gomi misses with a wild combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ladera looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ladera shoots in looking for a takedown but Gomi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ladera's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kaimana Ladera. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ladera shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gomi as he jumps to the side.
Ladera is breathing heavily.
Gomi misses with a double jab.
Ladera showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gomi.

Gomi throws a right and a left that both miss.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ladera misses with a low kick as Gomi jumps back.
Gomi swinging wildly here.
Gomi looks to land a combination but Ladera avoids it well.
Gomi connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Ladera closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gomi to the mat! Gomi manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ladera not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Ladera postures up.
Ladera trying to control the position from guard on top but Gomi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ladera controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kaimana Ladera dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Ladera closes the distance and clinches.
Gomi wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Ladera pulls guard.
Ladera looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gomi is one step ahead there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gomi trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ladera's guard.
Gomi wants to control from the top but Ladera keeps moving.
Ladera lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gomi!
Gomi is breathing heavily.
Ladera controlling his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ladera has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ladera cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Ladera lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Ladera controlling the position easily from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gomi tries to improve his position but Ladera has taken his back! Ladera has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Gomi tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Ladera pushes Gomi away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kaimana Ladera!
