Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre has his takedown stuffed
and Pierre takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Pierre throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

A frustrated look appears on Askal's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Pierre jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Askal walks away with a smile on his face. Pierre gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Pierre throws a lazy uppercut
and Askal counters with a nice body shot.
Askal connects with a body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pierre is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Askal throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Askal wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Askal lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Askal fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pierre manages to avoid it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Askal counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Pierre thinking.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Pierre holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Pierre tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Askal just stands there and leans against the cage.
Pierre is working for takedown but Askal is calmly controlling the position for now.

and Askal counters with a crisp one two that drops Pierre! Askal thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Pierre to his feet! Pierre is in big trouble!

No joy there for Askal, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Askal counters with a three punch combo that has Pierre backing up. Pierre nods at Askal to acknowledge the strikes.
Askal scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

and Askal counters with a series of strikes. Pierre will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Pierre counters with a nice double leg into side control. Askal won't be happy with that.
Askal is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pierre asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Askal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pierre on the ground.

Pierre goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Askal has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pierre but great work by Askal.

Askal decides to stand up, so the ref orders Pierre to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Askal fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Askal is squirming around, avoiding Pierre's attempts to control the action.
Askal is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Pierre is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Askal has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Askal's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Pierre wants to control the pace but Askal is squirming around nicely.
Pierre moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Askal has worked his arm free - good work by Askal!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Askal prevents Pierre from moving into mount.
Askal throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Askal feints and then cracks Pierre's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Pierre down.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pedro Askal.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Askal, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
