Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Duane Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hellson Ballswick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Hellson Ballswick!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson jabs Ballswick right on the nose. Ballswick blinks but takes it well.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses.
Jackson misses with a right hand
and Ballswick counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jackson shoots in for a double leg but Ballswick sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ballswick scores with a jab.

Ballswick looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jackson won't allow Ballswick to pass to mount.
Jackson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jackson trying to hold on to Ballswick's head to control him but Ballswick postures up.
Ballswick wants to take a breather but Jackson is having none of it.
Ballswick controlling the action here.

Hellson Ballswick has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ballswick goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Jackson turns into him and now he's in Ballswick's guard.

Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ballswick has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Ballswick's legs - danger averted.

Jackson wants to pass the guard but Ballswick is keeping the position.

Ballswick looking for a guillotine here but Jackson defends easily.

Ballswick is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jackson is aware though and is defending well.

Ballswick escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jackson postures up and lands a big shot to Ballswick's brow.

Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Ballswick is retaining full guard.
Ballswick utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Jackson throws a lazy right hand but Ballswick sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ballswick throws a hook but Jackson blocks it.
Jackson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ballswick to score with a decent uppercut.
Ballswick fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Jackson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Ballswick moves out of range.

Jackson gets caught flat footed, as Ballswick shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Ballswick drops back looking for a leg! Jackson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jackson manages to kick Ballswick off! Ballswick jumps back into Jackson's guard.

Jackson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ballswick thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ballswick wants to get up but he can't break Jackson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Jackson is trying to keep Ballswick in close.
Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jackson wants to control the position but Ballswick says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ballswick had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jackson defends it easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hellson Ballswick showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
