Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Miguel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Miguel!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miguel scores a takedown into full mount!
Miguel misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Thomas is looking to get to half guard.
Thomas is in a horrible position here. Miguel smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Miguel connects with a nice short shot to Thomas's temple.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Miguel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Miguel passes into half guard.
Miguel is trying to control. Thomas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Miguel is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Miguel decides to stand up, so the ref orders Thomas to his feet.

Thomas tries to keep at a distance but Miguel has taken the fight into the clinch.

Miguel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Thomas's guard.
Thomas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Thomas throws a lazy right hand but Miguel sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Thomas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miguel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Miguel holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thomas wants to get up but he can't break Miguel's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Miguel is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

That was a close second round but I would say that Paul Thomas will probably get the nod.
